Anderen over Merel

Jim Mola, docent The Collective School of Music New York City:

My colleagues and I found her to be a most impressive student. A gifted natural musician, Merel also possesses a work ethic that can sometimes be lacking in students. Merel takes her music and her learning seriously, and puts in the time to get the most out of what is on her plate at any given moment. This quality sets her apart from many of her peers and, along with her obvious talent, is what I believe will carry her forward though her career. I see many talented young people every day. As we all know, the world is changing and the music world is a strong example of those changes. Only those willing to work hard to expand both their natural gifts and their horizons will find success. In my view, Merel has what it takes to succeed if nurtured in the right environment. While fully completing her schoolwork during the intensive, she also found – or rather, made – time to go see the world class musicians that appear regularly here, providing a face to face education that is simply not available anyplace else on earth in quite the same way.
